Arnold
Shapiro is an Oscar and Emmy Award-winning television creator and
producer with decades of experience in a myriad of TV genres. Among
his 150 awards are 16 Emmys, an Academy Award, and the George Foster
Peabody Award. He is a native of Los Angeles and a graduate of UCLA
where he has taught more than 55 classes on pitching, producing,
writing and selling TV shows through UCLA Extension.
Arnold
has produced 28 series, 4 television movies, and more than 90
specials and documentaries -- his most famous being "Scared
Straight! for which he received an Academy Award and multiple Emmys.
His other notable productions include the CBS series “Big Brother:
All Stars,” “Situation: Comedy” on Bravo, “ “The Road to Stardom
with Missy Elliott” for UPN, "Rescue 911," for CBS, hosted by
William Shatner, and the landmark documentary, "Scared Silent:
Exposing & Ending Child Abuse," hosted by Oprah Winfrey, which aired
simultaneously on NBC, CBS, and PBS, followed by ABC. It remains the
most watched non-news documentary special ever aired on American
television. Arnold is currently producing a non-fiction pilot for
the ABC Television Network, as well as pitching three other
television projects.
At
the age of 22, Arnold created and sold his first television show to
CBS in Los Angeles, and has been a non-stop producer since then. He
has been president of his own production company since 1982, and has
worked in local, syndicated and network TV producing shows for all
the broadcast networks and 14 cable networks from MTV to HBO.
